WHO ARE LESSONS FOR?

At Deerhorn Ranch we're here to serve all ages in our community. This could be a three-year-old excited about ponies, a grade-schooler who's always dreamt of riding, a teenager who wants to barrel race, trail ride or just be around horses. AND YES! adults are ABSOLUTLEY welcome as well. From busy parents who needs some stress relief from life or grandma who's looking to learn how to trot! We welcome EVERYONE! After all, Deerhorn Ranch's mission is to connect people with horses, to bring happiness, and alleviate

stress, trauma and depression.

MEET THE HEAD INSTRUCTOR, MICHELLE:

Michelle is the lead instructor and owner of Deerhorn Ranch.  She has been around horses since she was nine years old. Starting in 4-H

 and studying various styles and disciplines, including Natural Horsemanship, Western, Western pleasure, Gymkhana, Barrel Racing and English. While she greatly enjoyed showing and competitions, her true passion is just being around the horses, cleaning their stalls, brushing, bathing, graining and hoping on bareback. She wants to share the magic horses bring into her life with as many people as possible, by offering lessons to anyone who has been called to horses.

LESSON PHILOSOPHY:

There are no levels to move up in the program or pressure to perform a certain way. At the beginning of each session, there will be goal and intention setting. Each experience is truly you vs. you. No matter what your goals are, Michelle is here to coach, guide and root you on the entire time.  She truly believes there will be a personal growth during every session, a new goal accomplished and above all else, a greater sense of self once the lesson is completed.

TRAIL RIDE LESSON:

Once the client is comfortable in the arena, trail rides are an option during your session. Ask for more details at your first lesson.

HORSE LEASE:

Once the client is comfortable caring, taking out, and being safe around the horses, one day leases are an option.

​

HORSE SALES:

If the client has graduated from leasing and lessons, desiring more time with their own horse, Michelle can help with finding and transporting. Depending on availability, horses may be able to board at Deerhorn Ranch.

​

BEACH RIDES:

We're VERY lucky to be forty-five minutes from a beautiful beach in Salinas, which allows horseback riding. Once clients are ready to safely ride on the beach, this would be an option, at additional charges. 

​

TRAIL RIDES OFF SITE:

Once clients are comfortable, there are many trails we can trailer out to, including, Henery Cowell, Wilder, Quail Hollow and more, at additional charges. 

​

WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR?

For safety, make sure to wear pants and shoes with a heel. If you don't have heels, please wear something with smooth soles.
